Course Description
In this episode, Michelle is joined by the petite powerhouse Bianca Roe, OTD, OTR/L, RDN, LDN, CLC, to spend an hour discussing the scope of practice and roles of responsibilities of an OTR/L and RDN on a PFD Team. Bianca, who had the joyful journey of being mentored professionally by both Marsha Dunn Klein, OTR/L, Med, FAOTA, and Kay Toomey, Ph.D., is dual certified as an OTR/L and an RD. Listen to the wisdom that Bianca imparts with respect to the scope of practices of interprofessional practice partners on the PFD team and functional strategies for embracing each team member to reach optimal outcomes for the patients we serve. Learning through laughter is easy with Michelle and Bianca, as they work in some of their favorite memories from case studies into this hour!
Objective

- Roles and responsibilities of a dietitian as pertains to pediatric feeding disorder.
- Roles and responsibilities of an occupational therapist as pertains to pediatric feeding disorder.
- 2 strategies to engage in interprofessional practice for improved outcomes for patients with pediatric feeding disorder.

Bianca Roe, OTD, OTR/L, RDN, LDN, CLC
Bianca Roe graduated from the University of Arizona with her Nutritional Sciences degree and completed her dietetic internship in Tucson, Arizona. Upon entering the field, she went straight into pediatrics and became the dietitian for Mealtime Connections working alongside many incredible feeding therapists, including Marsha Dunn Klein, OTR/L, MED, FAOTA. She specialized in several areas including tube feeds, food allergies, and genetic disorders. After a few years of practice, she went off to complete her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy at Northern Arizona University. While completing her OTD Bianca completed both the SOS basic and advanced courses and had the incredible opportunity to work with Dr. Kay Toomey, Ph.D. during her 16-week doctoral capstone. Bianca now works in outpatient pediatrics in Chicago combining both her OT and RD areas of practice to provide direct client services and offer free parent educational workshops. She loves all things food-related including a good food pun!
