Course Description
In this episode, Michelle is joined by the dynamic duo behind the “SLPs Wine and Cheese PodCast”, Deborah Brooks, MA CCC-SLP, TSSLD, and Maria Kotsonis, MA CCC-SLP, TSSLD. What does that have to do with my continuing education you may openly ponder? Well, these two are shaking up what it means to be a modern-day leader in the field of Speech-Language Pathology! Set aside your predisposed tendencies towards ageism and sit in awe as these two fabulous millennials inspire you to rethink your work-life balance, troubleshoot common challenges, and offer inspiration on how to overcome these challenges…all while growing your evidence-based practice!!
Objective

Deborah Brooks MS CCC-SLP TSSLD
Deborah Brooks is a Speech-Language Pathologist providing speech therapy services throughout NYC. She is also the creator of the speech therapy coloring book series: Color in Speech. Deborah attended St. John’s University in Queens, NY for both her undergraduate and graduate studies. She has been in the field for 5 years, working in the school, clinic, and nursing home settings. Deborah co-hosts a podcast with her clinic partner from graduate school, Maria Kotsonis. The podcast is called SLPs Wine and Cheese and it’s a great listen for both seasoned and newbie SLPs.

Maria Kotsonis MS CCC-SLP TSSLD
Maria Kotsonis graduated from St. John’s University with her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology. She has her New York State licensure in Speech Language Pathology and earned her Professional Certificate as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD). Maria also holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Maria has experience working with pediatrics and adults in a variety of settings: preschool, an elementary school, home-based, and a private practice. Maria is trained in PROMPT therapy and uses this approach extensively during her diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of clients. She has experience working with clients with autism, language disorders, fluency, sensory-processing disorder, articulation disorders and voice disorders. When Maria is not working she enjoys recording episodes of SLPs wine and cheese, practicing yoga, and traveling the world.
